Guides

Applying Themes

On ArkOS themes are located on the SD card on the "EASYROMS" partition and "Themes" folder. You can also install themes using the built-in tool THEMEMASTER (requires internet connection).

How to create your own themes

Watch this video for how to change images: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aci8TdIVFmE

If you want to make a new theme, or edit or add layouts, fonts, features, sizes, etc. on an existing theme you need to edit code in the xml files. If you don't have experience with editing code in xml files, it's suggested to start by making small changes like text or image position to a theme which you like. Here's some documentation of the code for emulationstation themes:

https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Creating-Your-Own-EmulationStation-Theme/

https://wiki.batocera.org/write_themes_for_emulationstation

For fast testing you can transfer changed files via wifi and change any theme setting to refresh the changes. You can also test on PC with Retrobat after changing resolution to 640x480.
