Themes for ArkOS[edit]

AmberELEC/PAN4ELEC has the best theme compatibility. ArkOS and dArkOS uses an older EmulationStation version and lots of themes from the Emulationstation-OGA-Theme-Gallery have problems on ArkOS, like a cut off battery percentage and menu navigation. Some are even causing crashes when applying grid game list style (resetting theme settings usually fixes that), and some theme configuration options may be broken on ArkOS.

The following themes have been tested on the BATLEXP G350 running ArkOS (should be the same compatibility for the R36S). Screenshots have been taken directly from the device via ssh.

Themes for AmberELEC[edit]

Info
AmberELEC uses a different emulationstation version than ArkOS. That means some of these themes are not fully compatible with ArkOS. Some themes can display the playtime in the gamelist. Tested on R36S with AmberELEC prerelease-20240616.

AmberELEC theme folder:

  • 📁/storage/.config/emulationstation/themes

You can access this folder with wifi and ssh connection.

Installing New Themes[edit]

On ArkOS themes are located on the SD card on the "EASYROMS" partition and "Themes" folder. You can also install themes using the built-in tool THEMEMASTER (requires internet connection).

Most themes can be downloaded on GitHub. Just download the whole repository as a zip file, extract it and copy the folder to EASYROMS/themes.

    How to create your own themes[edit]

    If you want to make a new theme, or edit or add layouts, fonts, features, sizes, etc. on an existing theme you need to edit code in the xml files. If you don't have experience with editing code in xml files, it's suggested to start by making small changes like text or image position to a theme which you like.     For fast testing you can transfer changed files via wifi and change any theme setting to refresh the changes. You can also test on PC with Retrobat after changing resolution to 640x480.
